"should like" in the title (and in the first line, and repeated here and there) is a subjunctive form, used in English to make something more polite - I've heard this called a subjunctivo de cortesía when used in Spanish, as here, so I think it's right to translate "quisiera" like that when I see no other reason for the subjunctive in Spanish. "I have loved you more than I should" would mean something like "Te he querido más de lo que es justo y adecuado" (or replace "es" by "sea" or "fuera" or "sería", I'm not sure what tense it would be in Spanish and suspect that as something not actual it should be subjunctive.
